The master has been interested in the traditional craft since his childhood. He learned woodworking in the workshop of his grandfather and uncle. It was during this time that he began to have a special love and interest in the traditional craft, which developed even further over time. According to the master, everything to do with his love of traditional crafts is connected to his family. After his grandfather passed away, he inherited the old tools. "When I realise that all of this comes from my ancestors and thus continues the traditions they left us, I do not want to get lost and contribute to their development," says the master. The master's source of inspiration is the nature, animals, mountains, culture and folk art of Georgia.
In addition to woodcarving, he studied various fields of arts and crafts: metalworking, enamel, stone carving, weaving, glass and ceramics. Despite the diversity of directions, the master notes that he still has much to learn in order to better master these crafts. "That is what distinguishes my work. I try to combine my knowledge, combine the techniques of different materials and create something new," says the master.
In addition to his work, the master taught pottery and woodcarving at the Caritas Georgia Charitable Foundation for 5 years and was also a teacher of woodcarving at the School of Crafts at the Open Air Museum.
