Ikorta Enamel Jewelry Studio

Organizations

Founded in 2012, Ikorta Enamel Jewelry Studio is a Georgian social enterprise that combines traditional craftsmanship with social impact. Through handcrafted cloisonné enamel jewellery, the studio preserves centuries-old Georgian artisanal traditions while creating new opportunities for women artisans and internally displaced communities.

The story of Ikorta Studio began long before its establishment. During the 2008 Russian invasion of Georgia, the founders were forced to leave their homes in Akhalgori and the Samachablo region, seeking refuge in the settlement for internally displaced persons in Tserovani. Facing displacement, uncertainty, and the challenge of rebuilding their lives, they envisioned a space where creativity could become both a source of healing and a path toward economic independence.

Established in 2012, Ikorta Studio was created to provide employment, professional development, and renewed confidence for Georgian women artisans. Over the years, it has grown into a creative workshop that demonstrates how traditional craftsmanship can foster resilience, preserve cultural identity, and strengthen local communities.

The studio specialises in handcrafted cloisonné enamel jewellery inspired by Georgia's rich artistic heritage. Many of its designs draw inspiration from traditional Georgian textile ornaments and decorative motifs, reinterpreting these cultural elements through the refined medium of enamel. Each piece is distinguished by its exclusive design, originality, and meticulous craftsmanship, reflecting both historical traditions and contemporary artistic expression. Rather than simply creating decorative objects, Ikorta Studio seeks to tell stories of memory, perseverance, and hope through its work.

In addition to producing artisan jewellery collections, the studio regularly participates in exhibitions, cultural events, and craft fairs, presenting thematic collections to local and international audiences. Ikorta Studio also organises cloisonné enamel workshops and training courses, helping to pass traditional techniques on to new generations of makers.

Quality remains one of the studio's core values. By creating carefully crafted jewellery that is both distinctive and accessible to a broad audience, Ikorta Studio continues to demonstrate that craftsmanship can preserve heritage while creating meaningful social and economic opportunities.

Today, Ikorta Studio represents more than a jewellery workshop. It stands as a symbol of resilience, proving that even after displacement and loss, craftsmanship can inspire hope, strengthen communities, and transform difficult experiences into enduring works of art.
