Boosting Marketing and Export Potential of Georgia Artisan Products

The project “Boosting Marketing and Export Potential of Georgia Artisan Products” was implemented with the financial support of the USAID Economic Security Program which made focus on marketing and export-supporting actions, which are thought to be the basic first steps to improve the competitiveness of local Georgian artisanal products and enhance the access to EU and US markets. The choice of the EU and US markets was determined by the common trends of the Western market in general and the Association agreement of 2014 on the preferential trade regime DCFTA with EU countries.

The goal of the project was:

To foster the sector’s economic potential, support the growth and expansion of existing entities, and provide members with tangible business development and export opportunities.

The objectives of the proposed project were:

  1. Identify export opportunities, create conditions encouraging economic and trade relations and Assist artisans in complying with requirements to export.
  1. Based on the research of export regulations, support new product development and (offline and online) marketing of new and existing crafts products.
  1. Creation of a manual of export regulation for US and EU markets per each type of crafts products (ceramics, toys, wooden tableware, wool products, jewelry etc).
