In 2017-2019, the Association of Traditional Crafts of Georgia implemented the project "Development of the products of the masters of traditional crafts of Ajara" with the support of the Association of Traditional Crafts, financed by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports of Adjara.

The aim of the project was:

During these years, about 50 craftsmen living in the Adjara region received experience and specific recommendations on the development of traditional handicraft products based on museum collections, more than 100 new design products were created on the basis of museum collections, and the created craftworks were exhibited at various fairs.

The selection of craftsmen participating in the project was carried out according to the results of a grant competition, and for the masters identified as winners, a study visit was conducted to the museums in the administrative territory of Adjara. (Matchakhela Historical and Ethnographic Museum, Gonio-Apsaros Archaeological and Architectural Museum-Reserve, Batumi Archaeological Museum, Kobuleti Museum and Khariton Akhvlediani Museum). During the study visit, the craftsmen got acquainted with the collections stored in the museum, and archaeological and ethnographic materials, which became a source of inspiration for the creation of new products. During the study visit, photographs of the artwork were taken and later used for the idea generation workshop.

During the idea generation workshop, the association's expert together with each craftsman developed new, modern consumer product designs, based on ornaments, color combinations, and shapes of exhibits seen in museum collections. In parallel with the process of creating the works, the masters were given individual consultations, the purpose of which was to refine the designs together with the expert of the association and give recommendations to them.
